XS Check: Cross Section Validation
The XS Check validates cross section geometry, spacing, and hydraulic results throughout the HEC-RAS model.
Overview
This check examines:
Distance/Travel (DT) - Reach lengths between cross sections
Ineffective Flow (IF) - Ineffective flow area definitions
Default Flow (DF) - Default ineffective flow usage
Blocked Obstruction (BO) - Blocked obstruction definitions
Exceedance/Encroachment (EC) - Water surface exceeding cross section limits
Critical Depth (CD) - Critical depth conditions
Friction Slope (FS) - Friction slope method appropriateness
Discharge Conservation (DC) - Discharge continuity
Flow Regime (FR) - Flow regime transitions
Levee (LV) - Levee definitions and overtopping
Conveyance (CT) - Conveyance subdivisions and coefficients
Channel Width (CW) - Channel width variations
Additional checks - Area, slope, energy, velocity distribution
